After the suspension of two MLAs from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), party spokesperson Lenin Mohanty emphasized that party president Naveen Patnaik does not tolerate ‘corrupt traitors.’ Mohanty highlighted that the BJD, under Patnaik’s leadership, has become a successful regional party with a membership base exceeding one crore. He stressed the importance of all party members adhering to the party constitution and guidelines, with the leadership consistently taking action against violators.
Mohanty announced the suspension of Members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Arvind Mohapatra and Sanatan Mahakud, for breaching party guidelines. He mentioned that the decision was made following due process and careful consideration. The move was widely supported by party workers across Odisha, reflecting their approval of Patnaik’s stance against anti-party activities.
In response to his suspension, Arvind Mohapatra, representing the Patkura constituency, denied any involvement in activities against the party. Expressing surprise at the news, he stated his commitment to party work in his constituency and his lack of association with any groups that could harm the party’s reputation. Mohapatra expressed intent to discuss the matter with party leader Patnaik before addressing the media.
