The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has revealed a fresh lineup of office-bearers for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Hitesh Barot, a corporator from Thaltej ward, has been appointed as the new Mayor of Ahmedabad post the recent civic body elections. Anjuben Shah from Sabarmati ward is now the Deputy Mayor, and Kamlesh Patel from Khokhra ward will lead the influential standing committee.
Jashubhai Thakor from Shahibaug ward has been designated as the BJP leader in the civic body, while Atul Mishra from Chandkheda ward will serve as the party whip. The BJP has also finalized the 12-member standing committee of the AMC, with members including representatives from various wards such as Gota, Sardar Patel Stadium, Sabarmati, and Sardarnagar.
Barot takes over from the outgoing Mayor Pratibha Jain as the new Mayor, as the BJP maintains its stronghold in the AMC by securing its fifth consecutive term after winning 160 out of 192 seats in the 2026 civic elections. Barot, a second-term corporator from Thaltej, previously chaired the AMC standing committee and was a prominent contender for the Mayor’s position.
The mayoral position for this term was reserved for a male OBC corporator. Apart from Ahmedabad, the BJP has also made appointments in other municipal corporations across Gujarat, including Navsari, Gandhidham, and Morbi.
