Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Bhupen Borah, contesting in the Bihpuria Assembly constituency in Assam, alleged that Rahul Gandhi has been given an “immature” script by Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi. Borah, who was with the Congress for 32 years, claimed that Rahul Gandhi was provided this script by Gaurav Gogoi. He expressed disappointment, stating that the script lacked maturity.
Referring to the Congress manifesto promising justice in the Zubeen Garg case within 100 days of coming to power in Assam, Borah criticized the pledge. He highlighted Rahul Gandhi’s legal issues and questioned his ability to ensure justice for Zubeen Garg. Borah emphasized that Rahul Gandhi is not a judicial authority and criticized State Congress President Gaurav Gogoi for bringing him to Assam.
Borah also raised concerns about illegal infiltration, citing statements made by Congress leaders during rallies. He defended the eviction drive led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, stating that it aimed to reclaim government land for industrial development and job creation. Borah accused the Congress of opposing actions against illegal infiltrators in Assam.
Moreover, Borah mentioned allegations made by Congress leader Priyank Kharge regarding semiconductor firms favoring Assam and Gujarat over Karnataka due to central government pressure. He criticized Gaurav Gogoi for supporting Priyank Kharge’s claims. Borah also highlighted the conservation efforts under the BJP government, noting the protection of one-horned rhinos in Assam.
Accusing Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge of disrespecting late singer Bhupen Hazarika, Borah questioned the party’s stance on conferring the Bharat Ratna on Hazarika. He urged Kharge to clarify his position on the matter. Borah concluded by stating that the Congress is making repeated mistakes in its approach.
