BJP candidate Dalim Roy from the Maynaguri Assembly constituency in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district sustained a head injury while campaigning on Monday evening. He experienced the injury when he accidentally hit his head on a shop’s tin roof in the Maynaguri station intersection area. Roy was promptly taken to the hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable.
The incident occurred as Dalim Roy was engaging in campaign activities near the Maynaguri station intersection on Monday afternoon. While entering a shop, he accidentally struck his head on the tin roof, causing a deep cut on his forehead and subsequent bleeding. Party workers and supporters quickly transported him to the Maynaguri rural hospital for immediate treatment.
Chanchal Sarkar, a member of the BJP’s Jalpaiguri district committee, explained that the injury took place as they were concluding their campaign activities for the day. Roy, who was interacting with the public at a drug store, hit his head on the low verandah roof while entering the shop. Following the incident, he was taken to the Maynaguri Rural Hospital for medical attention.
Despite being advised to rest for a few days, the BJP candidate is expected to resume campaigning shortly. Later in the day, Dalim Roy met with party workers and leaders. The Maynaguri constituency is set to vote in the first phase on April 23.
