Indian cricketer Devdutt Padikkal acknowledged that his return to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was a pivotal moment in his career. This move provided him with clarity regarding the style of cricket he aimed to pursue. Padikkal played a significant role for RCB in 2025, scoring 247 runs in 10 matches with an impressive strike rate of 150.61.

In the following year, 2026, Padikkal continued his strong performance by scoring 111 runs in just two games at a remarkable strike rate of 201.82. Reflecting on his journey, Padikkal expressed that the auction in 2025 marked a crucial juncture in his career. He emphasized the importance of committing to a specific cricketing style and the player he aspired to become.

Padikkal highlighted the impact of rejoining RCB on his cricketing philosophy. He mentioned that this opportunity with RCB prompted him to focus on personal development, irrespective of the outcomes. The cricketer emphasized the need to work diligently on his skills and mindset, regardless of the results.

After making a notable debut in the 2020 IPL season with RCB, where he scored 473 runs and received the Emerging Player Award, Padikkal had stints with the Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. However, RCB secured his services again at the 2025 mega auction for his base price of Rs 2 Crore. Padikkal shared his challenges during his time with Lucknow Super Giants, expressing the pressure associated with the franchise’s financial investment and the motivation derived from setbacks.
