The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed confidence in forming the government in West Bengal for the first time, attributing the electoral momentum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla highlighted the party’s success in multiple states, emphasizing the increasing popularity of PM Modi’s leadership nationwide.
Poonawalla criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her government of failing to uphold the essence of the “Maa, Maati, Manush” slogan during its 15-year tenure. He stated that the electorate rejected the alleged “climate of fear” under the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), emphasizing the victory of trust and democracy in the state.
Another BJP leader, Gourav Vallabh, noted that the people of West Bengal voted against “fear, terror, and corruption.” He expressed optimism in the establishment of a governance-focused government that would fulfill promises, including the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code and upholding women’s dignity and self-respect. Vallabh highlighted the potential for accelerated development in West Bengal under a BJP-led administration.
