The BJP criticized Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for spending five days in Bagalkot constituency campaigning for the upcoming bypolls. Karnataka BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra sarcastically questioned the need for the Chief Minister to camp in Bagalkot if he truly believed in the government’s development work and guarantee schemes. Vijayendra urged the government to release a White Paper on the state’s financial status.
Alleging that the state government was using excuses like High Court issues and reservations to justify its failure to gather funds for guarantee schemes, Vijayendra called on the Chief Minister, who also handles the finance portfolio, to provide a transparent view of the state’s financial condition. He expressed confidence in the BJP winning both Davanagere and Bagalkot constituencies in the bye-elections due to the hard work of party workers.
Vijayendra claimed that Congress workers were only active at night, highlighting public dissatisfaction with the state government. He predicted a significant victory for the BJP in Davanagere South and stated that the Congress would not be able to halt the BJP’s winning streak in Bagalkot. Criticizing the government’s assertion that Karnataka’s guarantee schemes were exemplary, Vijayendra cited instances from Himachal Pradesh and Telangana to challenge this claim.
Vijayendra further questioned the government’s delay in filling over 2.86 lakh vacancies, leading to protests by unemployed youth. He criticized the government’s handling of protests in Dharwad and highlighted delays in police department salaries, emphasizing the severity of the financial crisis. Referring to the Upper Krishna Project (UKP) submergence compensation, he raised concerns about the allocation of funds announced in a special cabinet meeting four months ago.
