Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that a BJP delegation, including Piyush Goyal and Sukanta Majumdar, met the Election Commission to address alleged electoral malpractices in West Bengal. The BJP submitted a petition accusing Banerjee of making provocative statements that could incite violence and intimidate voters. Specific incidents, including attacks on BJP workers and divisive remarks by Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra, were cited as examples of the alleged malpractices in the state.
The party urged the Election Commission to take immediate action to ensure free and fair elections in West Bengal. They emphasized the need to address the atmosphere of fear, coercion, and violence that could compromise the integrity of the electoral process.
