Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that a BJP delegation, including Piyush Goyal and Sukanta Majumdar, met the Election Commission to address alleged electoral malpractices in West Bengal. Rijiju accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of attempting to manipulate the elections and suppress voters’ rights.

The BJP delegation raised concerns about coercive tactics and intimidation by the Trinamool Congress during the electoral process in West Bengal. They highlighted instances of alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct and electoral laws by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

The BJP submitted a petition accusing Banerjee of making provocative statements that could incite violence and intimidate voters. Specific incidents, including attacks on BJP workers and divisive remarks by Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra, were cited as examples of the alleged malpractices in the state.

The party urged the Election Commission to take immediate action to ensure free and fair elections in West Bengal. They emphasized the need to address the atmosphere of fear, coercion, and violence that could compromise the integrity of the electoral process.
