BJP Kerala president, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, has urged Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan to initiate a CBI probe into the alleged disappearance of gold from the Sabarimala hill shrine. He also requested the unconditional withdrawal of criminal cases against Ayyappa devotees involved in the Sabarimala protests. Chandrasekhar emphasized the importance of these issues to millions of devotees, stressing the need for government intervention to restore their confidence.
Referring to the controversies surrounding Sabarimala since 2018, Chandrasekhar highlighted the deep impact on devotees’ sentiments. He expressed concerns over the reported loss of gold from the temple in 2025, raising questions about the security and management of temple assets. The BJP leader underlined his party’s consistent efforts in addressing these issues and urged the new administration to take prompt and fair action.
Chandrasekhar specifically called for a CBI investigation to address allegations related to the missing gold and ensure transparency in protecting temple assets. Additionally, he demanded the withdrawal of all cases against devotees involved in protests for safeguarding Sabarimala’s customs. Stressing the government’s duty to protect faith and traditions, he warned of a potential peaceful mass agitation by the BJP if the demands were not met, emphasizing the importance of acting in the devotees’ best interests.
The BJP’s focus on Sabarimala as a significant political issue has intensified, with efforts to keep alive concerns about the temple’s management and the handling of cases from the 2018 agitation.
