After Maulana Syed Arshad Madani of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind stated that “Jihad is every Muslim’s right,” BJP leaders have criticized his remarks. They claim that such statements are made to further a political agenda and provoke sections of the Muslim community. BJP leader Rohan Gupta expressed that Madani frequently makes such statements to promote his politics and incite Muslims, but the Muslim community is now less influenced by such remarks.
The BJP leaders emphasized the importance of religious clerics guiding society towards education, social progress, and constructive engagement rather than spreading hatred. They condemned the alleged attempts to link illegal immigrants with Muslims for political gains. BJP MP Bhola Singh criticized the irresponsible nature of such remarks, stressing the need for community leaders to provide positive guidance to the youth instead of misleading them.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Yogendra Upadhyay highlighted the dangers of prioritizing religion over the nation, calling it a narrow mindset. He stated that if individuals like Arshad Madani place religion above the nation, it reflects their personal perspective. Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also criticized the remark, cautioning against creating unrest in the name of jihad and competitive radicalism.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar urged religious leaders to focus on education and social development rather than spreading divisive rhetoric. He emphasized the importance of guiding people towards better education and positive directions to ensure community progress and unity. Meanwhile, Maulana Syed Arshad Madani addressed social harmony, democratic values, and national issues at a meeting in Haridwar’s Piran Kaliyar area.
