Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Telangana have initiated the ‘Singareni Bharosa Yatra’ to emphasize the allocation of the Tadicherla-2 coal block to the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). The two-day yatra was inaugurated by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, along with BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao and other leaders from the party office in Hyderabad. The BJP leaders received a warm reception from party cadres upon reaching Khammam district.
During the yatra, the BJP leaders plan to engage with Singareni mines employees across four districts, elucidating the Centre’s efforts to fortify the company. Ramchander Rao, before commencing the yatra, accused the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government and the current Congress administration of neglecting Singareni, attributing the company’s losses to them. He highlighted the Central government’s endeavors, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to assist Singareni.
Ramchander Rao emphasized that the allocation of the Tadicherla-2 coal block would enhance SCCL’s stability and bolster its long-term financial progress. He asserted that this allocation has instilled confidence among Singareni workers. Kishan Reddy previously hailed the allocation of the Tadicherla-2 coal mine to Singareni as a monumental decision, citing the company’s financial challenges and negative growth. He expressed confidence that this allocation would provide a significant impetus to SCCL.
Kishan Reddy mentioned that despite the Supreme Court’s directive for auction-based coal block allocations, Prime Minister Modi opted to allocate the Tadicherla block to SCCL, following legal provisions and consultations under the Coal Mines Act. The decision, devoid of political motives, was made after discussions with trade unions representing Singareni workers, seeking intervention. The allocation was finalized to support Singareni’s interests after deliberations with the Prime Minister.
