BJP Yuva Morcha National President and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya protested against the recent Metro fare hike in Bengaluru. During the protest at R.V. Road Metro Station, Surya carried an empty trunk and a poster criticizing the Congress-led government.
Accompanied by MLA C.K. Rammurthy and BJP party workers, Surya’s protest led to disagreements with the police. Despite questioning his detention, he was taken into custody for planning to travel by Metro.
Surya criticized the police action and the state government, emphasizing that the protest would persist. BJP MLA C.K. Rammurthy supported Surya’s stance, highlighting the need for a review of the Fare Fixation Committee’s decision.
Surya’s efforts resulted in the temporary suspension of the proposed fare hike following discussions with Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The fare increase, which was set to take effect on February 9, has been put on hold.
