Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin expressed condolences on the passing of Naresh Chaudhary Chahal, father of Rohit Chahal, National General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, and elder brother of NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal. Nabin visited Chahal’s residence to offer his sympathies to the grieving family.
He praised Naresh Chaudhary Chahal for his simplicity and valuable contributions, stating that he had made a significant mark in society. Nabin described Chahal’s death as a profound loss for the BJP community. Naresh Chaudhary Chahal, aged 62, passed away due to a heart attack in Vrindavan on June 18, with his last rites conducted at the Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi on June 19.
Nabin highlighted the significance of observing June 25 as ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the importance of remembering the events of the Emergency era and upholding democratic values. Nabin took to social media to promote this observance with the hashtag #SamvidhanHatyaDiwas, aiming to remind people of the challenges faced during the Emergency period.
He recalled the dark times of the Emergency when the nation’s democratic principles were under threat. Nabin mentioned the nullification of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s election by the Allahabad High Court, leading to a crisis that prioritized power over national interests. He lamented the suppression of constitutional values and the imprisonment of leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and L.K. Advani who stood up for democracy.
