The Bharatiya Janata Party’s core committee, led by Punjab President Sunil Jakhar, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for contemplating a visit to Punjab on the occasion of Guru Ravidas’s birth anniversary. The visit is scheduled for the day when the Union Budget will be presented in Parliament. The committee highlighted that the Prime Minister’s visit would enhance communal harmony in Punjab.
Jakhar disclosed that the core committee passed two resolutions during the meeting. The first resolution conveyed appreciation to the Prime Minister for his planned visit. Additionally, the committee condemned the recent bomb threats in Jalandhar ahead of Modi’s visit, criticizing the state government and Police Department for their failure to maintain law and order.
The BJP state President criticized the government for allegedly using the police to suppress dissent and restrict media freedom. He cited instances of police actions against media organizations, journalists, and social media influencers as evidence of the government’s infringement on freedom of speech. Jakhar also accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of being a mere “proxy” Chief Minister and predicted the decline of the AAP in Punjab due to alleged wrongdoings.
