Amid the Supreme Court’s directives to the Election Commission of India regarding the electoral roll revision in West Bengal, the BJP has raised concerns about the state’s law and order situation. The party questions whether the state DGP, Rajeev Kumar, and the administration led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be held responsible for the deteriorating conditions.
Amit Malviya, BJP’s Information Technology Cell Chief for West Bengal, highlighted the apex court’s repeated reminders to the West Bengal DGP to maintain law and order. He expressed worries about the ongoing violence in the state and urged the court to address the situation.
Malviya pointed out instances of organized violence across districts, alleging police inaction or even complicity. He specifically mentioned incidents in Murshidabad district and criticized the lack of relief measures. The BJP leader emphasized the need for accountability and described the situation as a breakdown of constitutional governance.
Tragically, Malviya noted the suffering of West Bengal residents caught between an authoritarian regime and what he termed as judicial indifference. He detailed various incidents of tension and violence orchestrated by ruling party members during the ongoing electoral roll revision.
