Pritpal Singh Baliawal, the Punjab unit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson, criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab for allegedly deceiving farmers and stakeholders in the dairy sector. Baliawal emphasized that the agreement has safeguarded sensitive agricultural and dairy products from any provisions that could harm Punjab’s interests.

He highlighted a Joint Press Statement related to the India-US agreement during a media briefing. Baliawal questioned the state Finance Minister, Harpal Singh Cheema, regarding the contradictory views within the AAP government on the agreement’s impact on farmers and industry.

Accusing the opposition of spreading misinformation, Baliawal asserted that the trade agreement will not harm Punjab’s agriculture and dairy sectors. He challenged the state government to provide official documents supporting their claims of potential losses due to the agreement, emphasizing the protection of farmers and dairy producers’ interests.

Baliawal reassured that the agreement aims to attract investments, increase exports, and improve farmers’ income without compromising their welfare. The event saw the presence of various BJP officials, including district President Rajneesh Dhiman and Press Secretary Satish Kumar.
