Responding to queries about internal politics within the ruling Congress party, State BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra revealed that the party’s MLAs had indicated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s likely resignation. However, the identity of the next Chief Minister remains uncertain, according to Vijayendra. Speaking to the media, he highlighted the confidence expressed by ruling party MLAs regarding a forthcoming resolution and the Chief Minister’s anticipated resignation.
Vijayendra expressed optimism about the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming bye-elections for two Assembly constituencies in the state. He confirmed that the BJP high command had already announced candidates for the Bagalkote and Davanagere South Assembly seats, with Veeranna Charantimath and Srinivas Das Kariyappa being named as the respective contenders.
Emphasizing the enthusiasm among party workers and voters, Vijayendra underscored the desire to secure victories for the BJP and address grievances against the current Congress government. He also highlighted the BJP’s advocacy for the Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections during recent Assembly proceedings.
Alleging a lack of development and financial losses due to the non-conduct of local body elections, Vijayendra criticized the Congress leadership, particularly AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and his son, Minister for IT, BT, and RDPR Priyank Kharge. He pointed out the substantial funds the state has missed out on as a result of the election delays, urging the state government to prioritize the electoral process for the benefit of Karnataka.
