The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra commenced as the first batch of pilgrims left Jammu for the base camps in the Kashmir Valley. Minister of State Jitendra Singh mentioned that BJP workers distributed sherbet, cold water, and free meals to the Yatris during their journey. The workers also organized langar services at Gandhi Nagar Hospital in Jammu to support the devotees.
The initial batch of SANJY-2026 pilgrims arrived at the Baltal and Nunwan base camps in Ganderbal and Anantnag districts, respectively. Out of the 4,822 Yatris who departed from Jammu, 2,510 reached Nunwan base camp, while 2,312 reached Baltal base camp. Officials at Baltal welcomed the pilgrims warmly, ensuring a safe and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience.
At the base camps, officials interacted with the Yatris, offering best wishes for a peaceful journey. Security, traffic management, and public facilitation measures were put in place to ensure a smooth pilgrimage. Dedicated teams and assistance booths were established to guide and assist pilgrims along the yatra route.
Authorities emphasized the importance of following advisories and cooperating with security personnel for a secure pilgrimage experience. The Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring a safe and seamless journey for all devotees visiting the holy shrine. At Nunwan base camp, yatris received a warm welcome from officials and socio-religious organizations, wishing them a blissful journey.
Reception ceremonies were held for the pilgrims, providing essential services and assistance. The Union Territory administration has arranged accommodation, healthcare, transportation, and langars for the pilgrims. Service providers have also made essential items available en route for the convenience of the devotees.
Pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and showed enthusiasm as they prepared to begin their sacred journey to the holy cave.
