The Central government has granted Z-category security cover to Nitin Nabin, the newly elected national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party. This decision, based on a threat assessment by the Intelligence Bureau, highlights Nabin’s prominent position within the party. The Central Reserve Police Force’s VIP security wing will now safeguard Nabin during his travels, public appearances, and at his residence, ensuring comprehensive protection.
The security detail, provided below Z-plus level, is typically reserved for key political figures and individuals at high risk. This security arrangement was put in place following Nabin’s appointment as the national working president in December 2025 and was reinforced after his uncontested election as the party’s president. Notably, Nabin received backing from senior leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
At 45, Nabin is the youngest leader to head the BJP, taking over the reins from his predecessor, Jagat Prakash Nadda. The security measures reflect the BJP’s status as the ruling party. Nabin, a seasoned politician with extensive experience as a five-time MLA from Bihar, has been entrusted with significant responsibilities, including overseeing the party’s activities for upcoming state elections and preparing for the 2029 Lok Sabha polls.
