Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) President and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya has called on Karnataka’s Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda to create and execute a thorough development strategy for Bengaluru. Surya emphasized the need for a transparent white paper on road repair expenses and the establishment of a live public dashboard to monitor infrastructure projects. During a press conference at the state BJP headquarters, Surya disclosed discussions on 15 crucial issues concerning Bengaluru’s progress and civic amenities.
Surya assured that the Centre would fully support initiatives aimed at enhancing the residents’ quality of life in Bengaluru. He shared that he had provided Minister Byre Gowda with detailed data and recommendations on various development projects. Noting over 30 ongoing incomplete state government projects, Surya urged prioritizing their completion before initiating new ventures. He highlighted the absence of an effective coordination mechanism among Bengaluru’s numerous infrastructure agencies and proposed appointing a Chairperson for better coordination.
The BJYM President stressed the importance of addressing Metro rail expansion, pothole repairs, and pedestrian infrastructure issues. Expressing concerns over delays in Metro expansion projects, Surya pointed out the lack of new major Metro initiatives in the past four-and-a-half years. He criticized the delay in commencing Metro Phase-III, including the Orange Line, leading to increased costs. Surya also raised issues regarding the reduction in underground metro station platform lengths, limiting future train operations.
