At least six individuals have lost their lives, and more than a dozen are feared missing following a tragic incident where a boat carrying devotees capsized in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The mishap occurred in the Yamuna River near Kesi Ghat, with nearly 30 people on board from Ludhiana. One of the boats sank after colliding with a floating pipa bridge around 2:45 p.m. on Friday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have expressed their condolences to the affected families. PM Modi conveyed his deep anguish over the incident and extended prayers for the swift recovery of the injured. Chief Minister Adityanath termed the event as extremely tragic and heart-rending, directing immediate rescue efforts and medical aid for the injured.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with six bodies recovered so far and around 16–17 individuals rescued alive. The local authorities, including police teams, district administration, and trained divers, are actively involved in the search for the missing persons. Efforts are being made to provide necessary medical assistance to the injured, while relief measures are being prioritized.
