Around 40 families in a border village near Jammu have pledged their support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to conserve fuel by cooking on traditional stoves. In response to the ongoing global rise in crude oil prices due to the West Asia conflict, the villagers have opted to use wood and cow dung for cooking instead of LPG and oil. A woman from Gajansu village emphasized the importance of shifting to traditional stoves to save on cooking gas and oil during challenging times.
The villagers recalled how they had adhered to PM Modi’s directives during the Covid lockdown and are now embracing the practice once again. They highlighted the benefits of cooking on stoves, mentioning that the food prepared this way is healthier and the leftover ash can be used for washing utensils. Additionally, they pointed out the comfort of sitting while cooking on a stove compared to standing for long periods when using gas.
Residents of the village expressed their admiration for PM Modi’s leadership during crises, citing instances like Operation Sindoor and the Covid pandemic. They urged fellow citizens to follow the Prime Minister’s appeal and adopt fuel-saving measures. The initiative taken by the 40 families in the village to switch to traditional stoves in order to conserve LPG is seen as a step towards inspiring others to save fuel.
Ashwani, a village resident, encouraged people to carpool to reduce petrol and diesel consumption, emphasizing the nation’s self-sufficiency. He highlighted the unity and resilience displayed by border area residents during challenging times and called on everyone to support the conservation efforts.
