Borussia Dortmund secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Mainz, strengthening their position in the Bundesliga and keeping pace with leaders Bayern Munich. This win extended Dortmund’s unbeaten run to 15 league matches, while Mainz saw their winning streak halted in the 22nd matchday opener.

Niko Kovac’s team took control early in the game, dominating possession and creating opportunities. Julian Ryerson’s precise crosses set up goals for Serhou Guirassy and Maximilian Beier, giving Dortmund a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Despite Mainz’s attempts to respond, Dortmund continued to dominate in the second half. Ryerson’s corner led to Guirassy’s second goal, making it 3-0 before halftime. The Norwegian’s exceptional performance continued as his corner in the 84th minute resulted in an own goal by Mainz’s Dominik Kohr, sealing Dortmund’s 4-0 victory.

Dortmund’s coach, Niko Kovac, expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean sheet. With this win, Dortmund narrows the gap with Bayern Munich to three points, while Mainz remains above the relegation play-off position.
