Borussia Dortmund celebrated their 1,000th Bundesliga home match by defeating a rotated Freiburg team, securing a spot in the next season’s Champions League. The team, under Niko Kovac, dominated the game early on with Maximilian Beier scoring in the eighth minute and Serhou Guirassy adding another goal six minutes later.
Freiburg, who made several changes to their lineup, struggled to keep up with Dortmund’s pace. Despite some attempts by Freiburg players like Nicolas Hofler and Lucas Holer, Dortmund’s dominance was evident as Julian Ryerson’s corner was headed in by Ramy Bensebaini to make it 3-0.
In the second half, Freiburg tried to bounce back but faced challenges, with a goal by Lukas Kubler being disallowed for offside after a VAR review. Dortmund’s Fabio Silva sealed the victory with a goal in the 87th minute, capping off a well-rounded performance by the team.
The win not only marked Dortmund’s 1,000th home game but also their 600th Bundesliga home victory. Meanwhile, VfB Stuttgart, holding the fourth spot, was held to a 1-1 draw by Werder Bremen, maintaining their position in the league standings.
