Botafogo’s captain, Marlon Freitas, is reportedly considering a move to Palmeiras in the Brazilian Serie A. Palmeiras is said to be offering six million U.S. dollars for the 30-year-old midfielder, with negotiations still in the early stages, as per local media outlet Gazeta Esportiva.
Freitas, who has played 186 matches for Botafogo across all competitions since his arrival in 2023 from Atletico Goianiense, led the team to victory in the Copa Libertadores and Brazilian Serie A last year. Meanwhile, Palmeiras, under coach Abel Ferreira, is looking to bolster their midfield after the departure of Anibal Moreno to River Plate.
Atletico Mineiro has also secured a deal to sign former Atletico Madrid defender Renan Lodi on a free transfer. The 27-year-old, who has 19 caps for Brazil, is set to join Atletico Mineiro on a five-year contract after undergoing medical examinations upon his arrival in Belo Horizonte.
Gabriel Barbosa, a striker, is on the verge of returning to his former club Santos on a year-long loan from Cruzeiro. The 29-year-old, currently under contract with Cruzeiro until December 2028, is expected to share his salary costs equally with both clubs, as reported by Brazilian media. Barbosa’s potential move is influenced by his close ties with Santos forward Neymar.
