A British national, Ajay Kumar Sharma, was discovered dead in a Patna hotel, sparking suspicions among the district police. Sharma, aged 78 and originally from Bihar, had been residing at the hotel since January 18. Despite having meals on Sunday, Sharma’s room showed no signs of activity the following day.
Hotel staff, noticing the unusual silence, alerted the police when Sharma did not respond to repeated calls on Monday evening. Upon arrival, the police, accompanied by a forensic team, forcibly entered the room to find Sharma deceased on the bed.
Investigations are ongoing, with senior police officials questioning hotel staff and analyzing CCTV footage and entry logs. The forensic team has gathered evidence, and Sharma’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination at Patna Medical College Hospital.
The preliminary investigation revealed no external injuries on Sharma’s body. Authorities are awaiting the post-mortem and viscera reports to determine the cause of death. Legal procedures have been initiated, including the registration of an FIR at the Jakkanpur police station.
