British Member of Parliament and Padma Shri awardee Bob Blackman, speaking in Jaipur, emphasized the need to enhance India’s influence at the United Nations, citing the country’s increasing global significance. He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating India’s international standing, respect, and self-assurance through his effective leadership. Dr. Satish Poonia, BJP Haryana in-charge, hosted a gathering in Jaipur to honor Blackman, attended by notable individuals and BJP officials.
Blackman highlighted PM Modi’s advocacy for peace and unity globally, encapsulated in the principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family). He lauded Modi as a forward-thinking leader driving India towards self-sufficiency and progress across various sectors. Noting India’s support to nations during crises like the Covid-19 pandemic, Blackman underscored the country’s efforts to bolster trade and economic relations worldwide through a strategic foreign policy.
Discussing Jammu and Kashmir, Blackman revealed his longstanding call for the abrogation of Article 370 since 1992, denouncing the displacement of Kashmiri Pandits as unjust and inhumane. He condemned terrorism’s role in the community’s exodus and expressed solidarity with affected groups. Additionally, Blackman condemned violence against Hindus and temple attacks in Bangladesh, expressing apprehension over forced religious conversions.
Blackman compared India’s current economic standing favorably to that of the United Kingdom in various aspects. Dr. Satish Poonia praised Blackman for advocating India’s message of global welfare and peace in the UK Parliament, lauding his support for PM Modi’s policies and efforts to strengthen India-UK ties. The event witnessed felicitations by prominent figures, with Blackman expressing optimism about India’s future and its growing international relationships under PM Modi’s leadership.
