A Border Security Force constable lost his life on duty in Manipur’s Ukhrul district due to suspected militant firing. Constable Mithun Mandal, hailing from Bhagjan Tola village in West Bengal, was critically injured in the Litan area by unprovoked firing and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Imphal. Security forces have initiated search operations to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the attack.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh expressed strong condemnation over the incident and offered condolences to Constable Mandal’s family. The constable, part of the 170 Battalion, A Company, was fatally shot while on patrol duty at Mongkot Chepu in Ukhrul. Despite medical efforts, he could not be saved at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal. The Chief Minister hailed Mandal as a valiant soldier who served the nation with bravery, dedication, and a profound sense of duty.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government stands united with the grieving family and is dedicated to maintaining peace, security, and justice in Manipur. He extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for strength for them to endure this immense loss.
