After the NDA’s significant win in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, voices within the Janata Dal (United) are advocating for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, to step into active politics. A poster promoting Nishant Kumar’s formal political debut and proposing his leadership in the JD(U) was displayed in Patna. The poster, created by Krishna Patel, Vice President of the JD(U) student wing, emphasizes the need for Nishant Kumar to play a role in shaping the party’s future.
The poster exhibits images of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Nishant Kumar, along with a Hindi slogan endorsing Nishant Kumar’s involvement in the party’s next generation. Party workers’ sentiments, as per Krishna Patel, are encapsulated in the poster, reflecting a growing desire for Nishant Kumar to engage in politics and assume responsibilities within the party. The demand for Nishant Kumar’s active political participation within the JD(U) has intensified, especially following the 2025 Assembly elections.
Members of the Mukund Sena, an organization linked with the JD(U), initiated a 12-hour hunger strike in Patna to push for Nishant Kumar’s entry into politics. Describing him as educated, capable, and visionary, the protesters believe Nishant Kumar’s leadership could steer the Janata Dal (United) in a new direction and fortify the party’s future. The Mukund Sena members, referring to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as their guardian, urge him to assign an active political role to his son.
