The campaign for the elections to the 12 Zilla Parishads and 125 Panchayat Samitis across Maharashtra concluded on Thursday. Voting is scheduled for Saturday from 7.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., with vote counting set for Monday, February 9.
Following the end of the campaign period, political parties and candidates are now restricted from publishing or broadcasting advertisements through print, electronic, or social media. Elections are taking place in various districts including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, and others.
Simultaneous elections for Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis mean each voter will cast two votes. A total of 25,482 polling stations have been established, with necessary equipment like control units and ballot units ready for the voting process.
The State Election Commission is utilizing voter lists from the Election Commission of India for these elections. To assist voters, a mobile app called ‘Matadhikar’ has been launched, along with a website for voter information searches. Special arrangements will be made at polling stations for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and women.
