Karnataka extended their lead in the medals tally at the international swimming pool, securing 13 gold, 5 silver, and one bronze medals. Chhattisgarh had a successful day at the Khelo India Tribal Games, winning one silver and two bronze medals. Anushka Bhagat from Chhattisgarh claimed her third silver medal in the women’s 50m breaststroke, while Nikhil Xalco and Nyasa Paikra also clinched bronze medals.
The Khelo India Tribal Games feature participants from 30 states and Union Territories competing in nine sports disciplines. Arunachal Pradesh and Maharashtra secured their first gold medals, with Tanvi Dhurve becoming the first non-Karnataka or Odisha swimmer to win the women’s 100m butterfly gold. The event also saw impressive performances by Meghanjali from Karnataka and other talented athletes.
In weightlifting, Arunachal Pradesh’s Anai Wangsu and Richin Chongruju excelled, securing gold medals in their respective categories. The competition witnessed intense battles and remarkable achievements across various events, showcasing the diverse talent present at the Games.
