The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended a Senior Secretariat Assistant at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bank Note Press, Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, for taking a bribe of Rs 60,000 from a security manpower contractor. The arrest followed a complaint by Vinit Rana, the director of Khedapati Security Services, regarding the demand for the bribe to clear bills worth Rs 3.84 lakh for security and manpower services.
Ranjan Bharti, the accused, was caught red-handed accepting the bribe through a banking channel as part of a trap set by the CBI. Subsequently, Bharti was taken into custody and presented before a Special CBI Court, which remanded him to three days of police custody. The CBI initiated the case under corruption provisions after conducting an inquiry based on Rana’s complaint.
The complaint detailed that Bharti, the Senior Secretariat Assistant, had delayed clearing bills related to security services despite Rana winning a tender to provide manpower services at Kendriya Vidyalaya. Bharti allegedly hinted at clearing the bills in exchange for favors, prompting Rana to report the matter to the CBI. Superintendent of Police Shubhendra Katta ordered the registration of an FIR against Bharti in response to Rana’s complaint.
