The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended two officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, including Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Mishra, in connection with a bribery case involving a demand of Rs 4 lakh. The other official arrested was Administrative Officer Gautam from the Shahdara North Zone.
A complaint lodged on March 30 accused the Administrative Officer of soliciting Rs 4 lakh in illegal gratification from the complainants. Allegedly, this bribe was requested on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner to favor the complainants in an inquiry report. The CBI conducted a planned operation following the complaint, catching the Administrative Officer red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The investigation revealed the possible involvement of the Deputy Commissioner in the bribery case. Subsequently, the CBI arrested him too. The agency is conducting searches and further inquiries to unravel the full extent of the alleged conspiracy and identify any other potential accomplices.
Efforts to combat corruption in public service continue as the CBI emphasizes the importance of holding government officials accountable. The agency encourages citizens to report instances of corruption or bribery demands by public servants, assuring confidentiality and swift action through designated channels.
