The CBI conducted searches at the residence of a Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) manager in Hazaribagh following his arrest in a corruption case. Recovered during the search were Rs 21 lakh in cash, jewelry, property documents, and digital evidence. The arrested manager, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, was presented before a Special CBI Court in Ranchi and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
The CBI disclosed that the investigation is also looking into the involvement of other CWC officials in connection with the corruption case. The agency had filed a corruption case against Kumar on April 23, prompted by a complaint alleging a bribe was demanded to allow work that had already been assigned. Swift action was taken by the CBI upon receiving the complaint, leading to the arrest of Kumar while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
The operation, which caught Kumar red-handed, confirmed the allegations made by the complainant. The CBI emphasized its commitment to combating corruption in public sector enterprises and ensuring accountability among government employees. Kumar’s arrest is part of broader efforts to prevent malpractice and enhance transparency in administrative procedures. Ongoing investigations aim to determine if others were involved or if there is a wider pattern of corruption associated with the accused.
