The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully extradited a wanted fugitive, Anil Kumar Reddy Yeddula, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Yeddula, accused of various crimes including cheating and criminal breach of trust in Andhra Pradesh, was brought back with the help of INTERPOL channels.
Escorted by Dubai Police, Yeddula arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad and was handed over to the Andhra Pradesh police. He had been under the radar of Andhra Pradesh Police for multiple cases related to cheating and criminal intimidation.
The CBI collaborated with the International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU), MEA, and NCB- Abu Dhabi to secure Yeddula’s extradition. A red notice was issued through INTERPOL in September 2022 at the request of Andhra Pradesh Police, leading to his recent apprehension by UAE authorities and subsequent extradition to India.
The CBI, functioning as the National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India, works closely with law enforcement agencies through BHARATPOL for assistance via INTERPOL channels. Over 130 wanted criminals have been brought back to India in recent years through such coordination.
In a similar incident, the CBI previously extradited Ritik Bajaj, a narcotics smuggler wanted by Delhi Police, from the UAE in December 2025. Bajaj, accused of smuggling and supplying narcotics, was located with the help of a red corner notice issued through INTERPOL in October 2025 at the request of Delhi Police.
