The Census in Delhi kicks off with the House Listing and Housing Census, focusing on gathering detailed information about households, buildings, and living conditions. Unlike the population count phase, this stage aims to map every structure and household in the city. Residents will be asked 33 questions regarding basic amenities, house ownership, and household head details.
The data collection process will be digital, with enumerators using a dedicated mobile application for efficiency and accuracy. The first phase will occur in two 30-day cycles, starting from April 16 to May 15 in specific areas, followed by other regions. Enumerators have been trained and assigned blocks for systematic coverage across Delhi.
The survey will encompass all Delhi districts, including urban, semi-urban, and rural areas, ensuring coverage of densely populated colonies and slum clusters. The city has been divided into enumeration blocks to prevent data collection gaps, especially in high-density and migrant-heavy regions. Officials emphasize the confidentiality of collected information for statistical purposes. Residents can also opt for self-enumeration online for increased participation.
