The Central government has informed the Supreme Court about ongoing discussions on a policy for private CBSE students outside India affected by the West Asia conflict. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta requested a hearing delay until June 22 to address concerns raised by Gulf-based students. A new policy is in the works for students in West Asia whose CBSE results were impacted by the conflict.
In response to the regional crisis, CBSE had canceled Class 12 board exams for students in various West Asian countries. The board clarified that even previously postponed exams were now canceled, as per the sixth circular issued since March 1. Examinations scheduled from March 16 to April 10, 2026, in countries like Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE were affected.
Over 4.37 million students had registered for CBSE board exams this year, with around 2.51 million for Class 10 and nearly 1.86 million for Class 12. Gulf-based students had petitioned the Supreme Court over the delayed Class 12 results, citing exam cancellations due to regional security issues. The apex court had issued notices to the CBSE and its Regional Officer in Dubai in response to a Saudi Arabia student’s plea for result declaration.
