Chambal Ghariyals women secured victory in the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) T20 Scindia Cup 2026, edging out Gwalior Shernis by a narrow two-run margin in a thrilling last-ball finish at Holkar Stadium. The Ghariyals posted a competitive total of 146/4 in their 20 overs, led by a strong performance from opener Kanishka Thakur, who scored a half-century.
Thakur, along with Jincy George, provided a solid start by adding 51 runs for the opening wicket in 7.1 overs before George departed for 15 off 19 balls. Thakur then partnered with Rahila Firdous, contributing to a crucial 33-run stand that kept the momentum going. Thakur’s quick 50 off 37 deliveries set the tone, while Firdous and Vaishnavi Singh added valuable runs to set a challenging target.
In response, Gwalior Shernis faced early setbacks with the dismissal of Aashna Patidar for 10 off 16 balls. Despite this, captain Nuzhat Parween and Ishana Swami steadied the innings with a significant 64-run partnership. The match took a turn when Ishana was removed for 29 off 22 balls, and subsequent wickets fell as the pressure mounted on the Shernis.
With 20 runs needed in the final over, Gwalior Shernis fought hard, but Chambal Ghariyals’ bowlers tightened the grip, making the chase tough. Captain Nuzhat Parween’s efforts kept the Shernis in contention, but they fell short as the Ghariyals emerged victorious by restricting them to 144/5 in 20 overs.
Reflecting on the win, Chambal Ghariyals’ owner Divyaraj Singh Kirar praised the team’s quality and balance, commending their exceptional performance in the crucial match. Captain Pooja expressed joy over the team’s consistent and well-deserved victory, highlighting their hard work and strategic execution throughout the tournament.
