Chanmari DC and Dempo SC ended in a 2-2 draw in the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26 Stage 1 match at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl. Chanmari took the lead with goals from Suangaihmuna and Malsawmsanga, while Dempo equalized through Sebastián Gutiérrez and Marcus Joseph.
In the 69th minute, Chanmari’s Malsawmsanga Renthlei received a red card, reducing them to ten men. Dempo seized the opportunity, with Marcus Joseph scoring to level the match at 2-2. Chanmari FC moved to the top of the table with five points, while Dempo SC climbed to eighth place with two points.
The game saw early threats from Dempo, but Chanmari’s goalkeeper Zothanmawia made crucial saves. Brazilian winger Joao Vitor de Paula Morais, known as Jota, posed a constant threat for Dempo’s defense down the left flank.
Chanmari’s first goal came from Suangaihmuna’s quick reaction to a rebound off the post. They extended their lead through Malsawmsanga after a well-worked team move. Dempo responded before halftime with a goal from Sebastián Gutiérrez.
After Malsawmsanga’s red card, Dempo pushed forward, with Marcus Joseph eventually equalizing. Both teams pressed for a winner, but solid defense ensured the match ended in a draw.
