A charter flight has been organized to transport the West Indies team back home following their stay in Kolkata for over four days post their exit from the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup. The delay in their departure was due to airspace restrictions in the Middle East following certain military actions. This situation led the team to be stranded in Kolkata until suitable travel arrangements were made.

The West Indies team, led by Shai Hope, was confined to their hotel in Kolkata until the chartered flight was secured for their journey back home. The head coach, Daren Sammy, confirmed the travel arrangements, expressing relief after facing uncertainty over their return plans. Cricket West Indies had earlier explained that the delay was a result of international airspace restrictions in the Gulf region, necessitating adjustments in flight schedules for safety reasons.

Zimbabwe’s players, facing a similar situation in New Delhi, have started returning home in groups with alternative travel arrangements made by the ICC. South Africa and potentially England are also awaiting their travel schedules after their respective exits from the tournament, highlighting the logistical challenges faced by teams post-competition.
