Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma introduced the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G), ensuring 125 days of employment in rural areas. The launch took place at the Masuda Agricultural Produce Market in Beawar district via video conference. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan led the national launch from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
Sharma emphasized that the program aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India rooted in rural prosperity. VB-G RAM G aims beyond employment, focusing on water conservation, infrastructure development, livelihood enhancement, and disaster management. The Chief Minister criticized the previous MGNREGA scheme for inadequate planning and monitoring, leading to subpar outcomes.
The new initiative extends guaranteed employment from 100 to 125 days annually. It allows states to declare a 60-day break during agricultural seasons to prevent labor shortages. The program emphasizes creating lasting assets related to water conservation, rural infrastructure, livelihoods, and disaster preparedness. Transparency will be enhanced through technologies like geo-tagging, satellite imagery, and mobile applications.
Sharma highlighted key features such as digital social audits every six months, a grievance redressal system with fixed timelines, and increased administrative expenditure for better implementation. The scheme, supported by a sustainable financial framework, retains a demand-based employment model. The Chief Minister debunked misinformation surrounding VB-G RAM G, emphasizing cooperative federalism and announcing a record allocation of Rs 12,636 crore for rural employment in Rajasthan.
Referring to Devmali village’s recognition as the Best Tourist Village, Sharma announced plans for infrastructure development to boost tourism. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to improve water and power supply across the state, aiming to provide daytime electricity to all districts by 2027 and create 4 lakh government jobs for the youth.
