Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated an Orientation Workshop on ‘Clean Air, Healthy Delhi,’ emphasizing Delhi’s commitment to a clean environment. The seven-year ‘Clean Air, Healthy Delhi’ program, valued at Rs 8,300 crore and supported by the World Bank, aims to combat air pollution in the city. Gupta highlighted the importance of enhanced monitoring, modern technology, inter-departmental coordination, and efficient implementation to boost pollution control efforts.
Gupta outlined various initiatives under the program, including the new EV Policy, expansion of electric buses, installation of 32,000 EV charging points, strict measures against dust and open garbage burning, extensive tree plantation, and Yamuna river rejuvenation. These efforts reflect the government’s continuous endeavor to create a clean and healthy national capital.
Additionally, Chief Minister Gupta urged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to designate Mandi Road in South Delhi as a National Highway under the NHAI for strategic development. She emphasized the road’s significance as a crucial transport link between Delhi-NCR, connecting key economic hubs like Gurugram and Faridabad. Gupta highlighted the unanimous support for the road’s widening and comprehensive development by the UTTIPEC Governing Body, underscoring its vital role in facilitating smooth inter-state traffic movement.
By proposing the inclusion of Mandi Road under NHAI jurisdiction, Gupta aimed to streamline its development, ensure uniform engineering standards, and meet the growing traffic demands effectively. She emphasized that this move would enhance commuter convenience, strengthen regional connectivity, and bolster economic growth across Delhi-NCR. The Chief Minister expressed optimism for Minister Gadkari’s support in advancing this proposal for the road’s holistic enhancement.
