China has expressed its welcome for Vikram Doraiswami’s appointment as India’s Ambassador to China, anticipating his positive contribution to enhancing bilateral relations. The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated its readiness to support Doraiswami in his new role and highlighted the significance of diplomatic envoys in fostering friendly cooperation between nations. Doraiswami, a seasoned Indian Foreign Service officer, is set to assume his responsibilities in China shortly.
The Ministry of External Affairs recently announced Doraiswami’s appointment as the next Ambassador of India to China, succeeding his role as the High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom. With proficiency in Chinese, French, and some Korean, Doraiswami brings a wealth of diplomatic experience to his new position. His previous assignments include serving as India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh and a tenure at the Indian Embassy in Beijing.
Pradeep Kumar Rawat, the current Indian Ambassador to China, will soon be succeeded by Doraiswami. Rawat, who has been instrumental in strengthening India-China ties, had also undertaken Mandarin Chinese language training during his diplomatic career. Both India and China are actively working towards deepening bilateral relations through various exchanges and dialogues, aiming to address mutual concerns and enhance cooperation.
