Political tensions have escalated in Bihar as Union Minister Chirag Paswan criticized the opposition’s unity, particularly targeting the INDIA bloc and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Paswan labeled the opposition coalition as a strategic move driven by political necessities rather than shared beliefs. He highlighted reported discontent within the alliance, especially involving the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), alleging that the Indian National Congress has failed to maintain trust with its longstanding allies.
Chirag Paswan expressed surprise at the collaboration of leaders like Mamata Banerjee, who had faced criticism from Congress leaders in the past, in opposition gatherings. He suggested that the alliance seemed more focused on political adjustments rather than principled stands. Paswan also celebrated his party’s increased representation in the Bihar Legislative Council, attributing this success to the support of the party’s MLAs and the nomination of dedicated workers like Ashraf Ansari.
Regarding security matters, Paswan emphasized that issues like former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi returning her security cover should not be politicized. He stressed that security arrangements are regularly reviewed based on security agencies’ assessments and should not be interpreted through a political lens. Paswan also criticized the absence of RJD leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav during the nomination process for the Legislative Council elections, suggesting a lack of commitment from the party’s leadership.
