Hollywood actor Chris Hemsworth, known for his role as Thor, expressed regret for returning to his native Australia following a series of fatal shark incidents near his residence. Hemsworth, aged 42, had relocated to the US for several years before moving back to Australia in 2015 with his wife and children. However, he admitted feeling troubled after two surfers were fatally attacked by sharks near his home in Byron Bay.
In a podcast appearance on SmartLess, Hemsworth recounted the unsettling experience, citing a cluster of shark attacks occurring in close proximity to his residence within a short span of two weeks. The incidents, including fatalities and shark sightings, prompted him to question his decision to move back to Australia. He described the situation as “crazy” and mentioned being cautious, only surfing when accompanied by others in the water.
Despite the shark-related concerns, Hemsworth remains dedicated to surfing, emphasizing that he engages in the sport daily. He compared the perceived risk of shark attacks to other unusual dangers, highlighting statistics about vending machine accidents in the US. Additionally, Hemsworth shared anecdotes about encounters with snakes around his home, noting that while his children are unfazed by them, his friend Matt Damon had a surprising encounter with a snake during a visit to Australia.
