Filmmaker Sir Christopher Nolan commended young people for their stance against artificial intelligence in cinema. Nolan expressed optimism for the future of the film industry, citing examples of directors like Curry Barker and Kane Parsons who prioritize practical effects over AI. He observed a significant rejection of AI among the youth, noting their quick and decisive dismissal of what he called “AI slop.”

Nolan highlighted the younger generation’s ability to discern the shortcomings of AI, particularly in filmmaking. Despite acknowledging some value in the technology, he emphasized a growing interest in more tangible storytelling methods. The filmmaker expressed enthusiasm for the evolving landscape of cinema, crediting emerging young voices for pushing the medium forward.

Guillermo del Toro, another director, raised concerns about the potential consequences of AI on film literacy. Del Toro warned about the risk of losing the sacred connection between humanity and images, emphasizing the importance of authentic emotional engagement in cinema. He underscored the need to preserve the essence of visual storytelling amidst technological advancements.
