A city court in Hyderabad has summoned popular Tollywood actor Allu Arjun in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case. Allu Arjun, accused number 11 (A11), is required to personally appear before the court on June 22. The stampede occurred during the premiere show of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ resulting in the death of a woman and critical injuries to her son.
The Nampally Criminal Court has issued summons to a total of 19 accused individuals in the case, with the police naming 23 accused in total. The first 10 accused are from the theatre management, while eight bouncers of the actor are also listed as accused. The trial proceedings are set to commence once all the accused have appeared before the judge.
On December 4, 2024, during a special screening of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ at the Sandhya Theatre, a stampede broke out when Allu Arjun arrived, causing the tragic death of a woman and severe injuries to her son. Allu Arjun and his team, along with the theatre management, were booked by the police for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Allu Arjun was briefly arrested and subsequently granted bail by the High Court.
Following the stampede investigation, the police interrogated Allu Arjun based on CCTV footage compiled into a 10-minute video. The police had filed a chargesheet against all 23 accused in December last year.
