Cleanliness drives in Surat have been ramped up in preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit. Special campaigns are underway across the city to raise awareness about sanitation and environmental responsibility before World Environment Day. Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Paatil mentioned that activities are taking place at 800 locations, including a 26-kilometer route, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness.
The initiatives aim to promote the message of “Cleanliness is Service” and engage the public in maintaining urban hygiene. These efforts coincide with the Prime Minister’s scheduled visit to Gujarat and Daman on June 5. During his visit, PM Modi is set to review industrial operations in Hazira and inaugurate various development projects in Surat, totaling around Rs 18,800 crore across different sectors.
Projects to be inaugurated include the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway’s Packages VI and VII, enhancing connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra. Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for highway expansions and inaugurate a 200-bed ESIC hospital in Surat. Various power and industrial infrastructure projects in Gujarat, along with developments in Daman and Lakshadweep, are also on the agenda for inauguration and dedication.
