Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das stated that the group, leading a protest for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation due to exam paper leaks, has urged Union Minister JP Nadda to engage in dialogue at Jantar Mantar. Das and another CJP member, Ashutosh Ranka, met Nadda to present their demands during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march. Saurav Das mentioned that Nadda invited them for a second discussion, emphasizing that Nadda should come to the protest site if genuinely interested in addressing their demands.
Backing the Congress sit-in near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence, Das praised Rahul Gandhi’s participation, highlighting the need for government accountability. He stressed that those supporting the demand for Pradhan’s resignation are welcome to join through various means like protests, legal actions, or written appeals. Responding to police actions during a recent protest march, Das criticized the use of excessive force, mentioning injuries like cracked skulls and fractured limbs among protestors.
Despite acknowledging potential self-defensive actions by some protestors, Das emphasized the importance of non-violence in their movement. He warned against violence, stating it would detract from the protest’s purpose and impact its credibility. Das also refuted claims of protestors being labeled as “terrorists,” asserting that the youth supporting the cause are well-informed and peaceful in their demonstrations.
